Nambala wins gold for Namibia at World Para Athletics Championships

DUBAI – Johannes Nambala, Namibia’s T13 Paralympic Games medallist was on Saturday crowned world champion in the T13 400m race at the 2019 International Paralympic Committee World Para Athletics Championships.

The World Para Athletics Championships are underway at the Dubai Club for People of Determination in the United Arab Emirates.

With his win Saturday night, Nambala became the first Namibian athlete to be crowned a world champion on two occasions. He first became a world champion in the T13 400m at the 2013 World Para Athletics Championships in Lyon, France.

In 2015 in Doha and 2017 in London, the Namibian sprinter had to settle for silver medals after the Moroccan world record holder Mohamed Amguoun beat him to the line on both occasions.
