Roles and Responsibilities

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF NAMIBIA NATIONAL PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE

1. Ensure the growth and strength of the Paralympic Movement in Namibia, and support the activities of all his members;

2. Work for the building of a more inclusive society for people with an impairment through Para sport in Namibia;

3. With respect to the Paralympic Games, supervise and ensure the organisation of successful National Paralympic Games in Namibia;

4. With respect to the IPC sports, act as the governing body of these sports;

5. Promote sports for athletes with impairments without discrimination for political, religious, economic, disability, racial, gender or sexual orientation reasons in Namibia;

6. Support and encourage educational, cultural, research and scientific activities that contribute to the development and promotion of the Paralympic Movement in Namibia;

7. Ensure that, in sport practiced within the Paralympic Movement, the spirit of fair play prevails, violence is banned, the health risk of the athletes is managed, and fundamental ethical principles are upheld;

8. Contribute to the creation of a drug-free sport environment for all Paralympic athletes in conjunction with the Namibia Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) as per WADA requirements.
