
Nampower Foundation Rallies Behind Para-athletes
Nampower Foundation Boosts Preparation & Qualification of Para athletes to Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Namibia National Paralympic Committee is a member of Disability Sports Namibia which is the country’s NPC (National Paralympic Committee) and a member of IBSA and IWAS. NNPC is the national controlling body of sport and classification, sport that fall under its jurisdiction, for persons who have visual or physical impairments which complies with eligibility requirements as defined by the National Paralympic Committee. (IPC Classification Code, 2015).
Nampower Foundation, partner to the Disability Sports Namibia continue to boost support in qualification and preparation of athletes ahead of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Namibia National Paralympic Committee have received N$690,000 towards preparation of the athlete’s qualification and preparation to Tokyo 2020, an additional N$63,340.00 towards the just ended Athletics Namibia Grand Prix’s and AN National Championship we saw the para-athletes dominating space on the World Rankings for possible slot generation ahead of Tokyo 2020 Qualification.

NampowerFoundation rallies behind the Para athletes with N$122,290.00 for all travelling expenses for the team as they set their eyes on the SASAPD Toyota National Championship that was the last competition Namibia had opportunity to qualification ahead of Tokyo games.
The Para Athletics won 12 Gold, Five silver and three Bronze. SASAPD Toyota Nationals have continued to inspire our athletes to push forward besides the last year’s covid-19 pandemic that has affected the sporting industry. The platform has united the athletes emotionally as they have shown it upon their finish line.
The athletics meeting was internationally sanctioned and the largest event of its caliber in Southern Africa this year, providing track and field athletes from the region with the opportunity to secure their seat on the plane to Tokyo. International athletes from neighboring Botswana, Lesotho competed at this event.
