Dr Bernard Haufiku issues update on para athletes and team

Sunday the 18th of July 2021 Dr Bernard Haufiku was invited to share information with  regards to SARS COVID19 with the para athletes, their guides and support staff. The para athletes are currently camping at Safari Hotel in preparation of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The presentation on SARS Covid 19 emphasize the importance of understanding what the virus is all about, how it spread, how to prevent and also generally about the vaccines. DR Haufiku stress that it is important for the athletes to know how to protect themselves so that they remain negative, so the issue of testing is critical for allowing the athletes to participate at the games. DR H also highlighted the importance of getting  vaccinated in order to protect yourself from severe infection, hospitalization and even death. Athletes were given chance  to ask questions which many of them were related to misinformation around social media and they found it helpful and were able to make personal decision as to what they should do in order to protect themselves and also vaccinating themselves. We want to thank Dr H for making himself available on a very short notice to educate and support athletes in alleviating the confusion and the worry in order for them to focus on their performance so that they not look forward to only  bringing medals home but to do it in a healthy way.
